OUR ETHOS
The students, parents, governors and staff of St. Mary's Limavady strive to work in partnership to create a living and vibrant community in which each member is valued. At the core of every aspect of school life is the belief that we can have no better inspiration than the example and teaching of Jesus Christ.
Our community seeks to set an example of service, as Jesus did, and in so doing fulfil the high aspirations we have for each of our members and foster the fullest spiritual, academic and personal development of our students.
The paramount aim of St. Mary's is to provide an experience of Christian community in which is established a spirit of mutual trust and co-operation: thus, will be fostered the fullest spiritual, academic and personal development of our students. Students, parents, governors and staff are in partnership. The sharing of common goals is essential to the well-being of our community and to the fulfilment of the high aspirations we have for all our students.
The clear yet profound justification for a Catholic education, and for a Catholic school as a separate entity, is to be found in the Catholic faith. The Catholic school seeks its definition in the Gospels and the example and teachings of Christ.
The school aspires to:
-
Promote a sense of inclusion which promotes the dignity of all and nurtures the spiritual and moral development of each pupil.
-
Provide a broad, balanced and challenging curriculum which meets individual needs.
-
Strengthen the partnership between the school, home and Church to embrace the diversity of our extended school community.
-
Develop attitudes and life skills that promote a sense of balance and respect for others.
-
Prepare pupils to become effective contributors to the local and global community to meet the challenges of a changing world.
