Aims:
The aim of the RE department is to educate our students in the faith and values of the Catholic tradition. The Liturgical calendar is celebrated throughout the year with masses and penitential services. Our school prayer is prayed every morning at assembly.
KS3:
All students in Key Stage 3 study the Catholic Religious Education Programme.
The programme includes units on the Bible, the Sacraments, the liturgical year, moral and spiritual values and pupils also study two world religions.
KS4 :
GCSE CCEA
Pupils who study GCSE Religious studies follow the CCEA specification for Christian Ethics & Christianity through a Study of the Gospel of Mark.
GCSE OCN
We also offer OCN Level 2 certificate in Religious Studies which is delivered and assessed through portfolios.
KS5
AS and A2 students follow the CCEA specification for Religious Studies.
Extra-Curricular:
We have an active School Conference of the St. Vincent de Paul society and students donate to charities, such as Trocaire, Children in Crossfire & Road of Hope, during the school year.
Students in Year 13 are encouraged to participate in the Pope John Paul II Award and in doing so they contribute to the life of their Parishes and serve their local communities.
